VIZCAYA TO JOIN MIGRANT WORKERS' DAY
May 29, 2008

Every year, the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration celebrates Migrant Workers Day which is provided under Republic Act 8042. This is to give tribute to the overseas Filipino workers for being the pride of our country because of their economic contribution that kept the economy afloat and sustained dollar reserves.

According to Evelyn C. Laranag, OWWA Region 02 Director, “we have to admit that not only our country has benefited from this immense contribution of our so-called new economic heroes but every Filipino across all sector (that is why) in return, it is essentially important that we show our gesture of gratitude and gratefulness for the OFWs and their families.”

The OWWA regional office 02 is working its best to make the celebration very meaningful and significant, expecting massive participation and involvement thru concerted efforts among government offices, NGOs, private institutions and stakeholders.

There will be a parade and motorcade around the streets of Tuguegarao City, which is the regional center for Cagayan Valley. Along this line, the provincial government of Nueva Vizcaya, through its Assistance Council for Vizcayano Overseas Workers, will be joining the activity.
